IBM Timeline Mural

Premier Doug Ford visited IBM Canada with his associates to negotiate a business plan. In preparation for his visit, Alicia Chow, Gord Davison and I prepared a vibrant mural showcasing IBM's accomplishments and development over its 100+ year duration. The mural was created to provide an engaging and visually interesting presentation. As a result of the visit, IBM and the Ontario government signed a $5 million business deal. I was fortunate enough to meet Doug Ford and have a nice chat with him as well! Check out one of Doug Ford's Twitter posts for more photos, and his other Twitter post with a video of the event.

Project Details

  • Type: Illustration
  • Domain: Information Design
  • Completion Date: 10 March, 2019

Initial Stages

Alicia and I started plotting where things went on the mural for the first iteration. We drew inspiration from images of Ontario's cities, the IBM Canada Lab, and statistics we found through our research.

First Draft

We finished the first draft! Once management and other stakeholders offered critique, we made changes to the text, layout, and some of the illustrations. Gord Davison helped us refine the mural and bring it closer to completion.

Doug's Visit

Doug was fascinated by the mural wall and wanted to meet the artists, so we introduced ourselves and had a nice chat!

Presentation

Finally, the official presentation began and the mural was used as a reference to IBM's accomplishments and impact in the world of IT.

Media Coverage

Throughout the entire event, there were photographers documenting the experience.
